Old Films, New Films and Screenings

There’s a lot happening at Loonatik and Drinks HQ. First and foremost ‘The Wailing Well’ is finally complete and submitted to its first film festival. We had a cast and crew screening which was a great success and early feedback on the film has been very positive. I’ll keep you posted regarding its travels and we’re hoping it will do wild and wonderful things on the short horror circuit.

Got a couple screenings for ‘The Office Orphan’. A couple weeks ago the folks at Kino Shorts in Manchester showed the film as part of their short film night. We’ve also got our first international screening in Romania as part of the Iasi International Film Festival. http://www.iasifilmfest.ro/

Steve has advised me that ‘Rats’ is coming along marvellously. I’ve already seen some of the footage and some of the completed stills and it’s looking top notch. Steve’s word is that the edit is done and he’s aiming for a Christmas completion date.

Loonatik and Drinks Nottingham have halted work on our Scorsese based film and have opted to work on a new comedy short with Julie Bower who wrote ‘The Office Orphan’. It’s a brilliant ensemble piece which we’re hoping to flash under the noses of a few TV producers to see what they make of it. Shooting will take place on Hallowe’en weekend and we’re aiming for a quick turnaround to get it out there some time in November.

Following a successful trip to the Edinburgh fringe festival we’re also talking to a number of comedians about developing sketches and shorts together. The first of these could go into production as early as December this year.

All in all there’s a lot going on. I’ll do more blogging as we go into production on the next short and rest assured there’ll be a few pics going up when we wrap.
