For the first time in quite a while the Bristol and Nottingham minds got together in the same room for a few beers, a bit of pizza and a chat about all things Loonatik and Drinks.
Aside from pitching approximately 5000 ideas at each other, we sat down and watched the latest cut of 'Rats'. My golly it's good. Steve has done a grand job to create something with a wonderful vision and style and I'm really looking forward to seeing the final product when it's done. Stay tuned for more updates and we'll post some images before too long.
Halloween weekend is going to be a busy one. We have two screenings of 'The Wailing Well'. One as part of the wonderful Mayhem Horror Festival in Nottingham and one as part of Village of the Damned festival in Scotland (great name for a festival). We've also got a screening as part of 'Son of Movie Bar' in Brighton on Tuesday 2nd November. I'll be attending Mayhem and I'm hoping to catch a few of the other films that are screening there as well, not least Gareth Edwards' 'Monsters'.
On Halloween night itself we're shooting our latest short from the writer of 'The Office Orphan', Julie Bower. It's currently under its working title of 'Slow Night' and is a collection of brilliantly written sketches based around the theme of breaking up. It's going to be a trying and very busy overnight shoot, we've got to film over 10 pages of dialogue to get through. We've got our hands on a couple of 5D's and we're working with a great cast and crew, so we should get through it - even if gets a bit messy at times.
We're still pushing 'The Office Orphan' and 'The Wailing Well' out to festivals, I'll keep you posted of any fresh screenings we get.
Early reports for 2011 indicate that me and Steve will be working closely together again on a new project. We've yet to decide what that will be, but rest assured we're going to bring together everything we've learnt on our individual projects to create something very special.
